Tea Research Association (TRA)

The Tea Research Association (TRA) popularly known as TRA Tocklai was established in India in 1964. It is located in Jorhat, Assam and at North Bengal R&D Centre, Nagrakata, West Bengal. TRA Tocklai is the oldest and largest tea research institute globally which looks after the research and development needs of the Indian tea industry. TRA is essential to raising the standard and sustainability of tea production maintaining its quality and essence. The Tea Research Association (TRA) makes a significant contribution to the development, competitiveness, and global reputation of the Indian tea industry by providing extension services, workshops, and publications to educate tea growers. The ten advisory branches of TRA look after 1100 large tea estates and more than 2,00,000 small tea growers.
